At least 178 people have lost their lives and 491 others have been injured due to intense monsoon rains lashing various parts of Pakistan. The devastating weather conditions have triggered flash floods, caused buildings to collapse, and disrupted life in urban and rural areas alike.
Punjab has been the worst-hit region, with more than 100 reported fatalities, followed by severe impacts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan. In many areas, rooftops collapsed and electrical hazards led to further casualties.
In the last 24 hours alone, dozens of lives have been lost in Punjab as local streams overflowed, sweeping away homes and vehicles. Many of the injured are receiving treatment in government hospitals, while emergency services continue rescue operations.
Authorities have declared emergency alerts in vulnerable districts and have begun relocating residents from low-lying areas. Rescue teams, including military and civil defense personnel, are using helicopters and boats to reach those stranded by rising waters.
With more rainfall forecast in the coming days, officials warn the death toll could rise further and have urged citizens to stay cautious. The government has assured that relief efforts are ongoing and support will be provided to the affected families.
