In a disturbing incident, a 20-year-old girl hailing from Meena village in the Qamber area of Sindh has gone missing from Pir Syed Sohail Ahmad Shah’s mansion in Khairpur’s Ranipur, as reported by Express News on Monday.
The girl’s parents had reportedly handed her over to Pir Shah during a domestic dispute between the two families, with the understanding that she would remain at the mansion until the dispute was resolved. However, the parents were shocked to receive a sudden call informing them of their daughter’s disappearance.
Despite conducting multiple searches of the mansion and its surroundings, the parents have been unable to determine the whereabouts of their daughter. Adding to their distress, the Ranipur police station has allegedly failed to lodge a complaint regarding the case, despite the family’s persistent attempts.
The aggrieved parents have staged a protest against Pir Shah, demanding immediate action from the Sindh caretaker chief minister and the police to locate and recover their missing daughter.
This incident follows the recent tragic death of a 10-year-old maid under mysterious circumstances in the same Ranipur area. The child, Fatima, was employed at the residence of influential figure Pir Asad Shah Jilani. CCTV footage from the house revealed signs of distress on the young girl’s body, leading to concerns of potential abuse.
While the viral footage has raised suspicions of torture, the deceased child’s mother has testified that her daughter was unwell and receiving treatment while working at Shah’s residence. The parents of the girl have vehemently denied any allegations of torture.
These incidents have ignited outrage among the local community and drawn attention to the safety and well-being of domestic workers, particularly young girls, in the region. Calls for swift and thorough investigations into both cases have grown louder, with demands for justice and accountability resonating throughout Sindh. The authorities are under increased pressure to address these distressing incidents and ensure the safety of vulnerable individuals in similar circumstances.
