In a significant move to address ongoing passport delays, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated a 24/7 passport office at the NADRA Mega Centre in Nazimabad on Thursday. The new facility aims to provide round-the-clock services, ensuring citizens can obtain their passports without long wait times.
Accompanied by Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Naqvi toured the newly established office, interacted with staff, and listened to applicants’ concerns regarding documentation issues. Officials briefed him that the office would operate in three shifts, allowing uninterrupted services throughout the day and night.
Residents welcomed the initiative, expressing relief over the convenience and efficiency it promises. Many thanked the government for fulfilling its commitment to improving passport services.
During his visit, Naqvi also addressed complaints from women facing biometric verification issues under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) and directed authorities to resolve them promptly.
This initiative follows the recent government decision to expand passport services to NADRA Mega Centres at 5 Star Chowrangi and Siemens Chowrangi (SITE), aiming to reduce congestion at the central passport office. The move was finalized after DG Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi’s visit to Karachi, where the expansion of passport facilities at NADRA centres was discussed.
The establishment of the Nazimabad passport office marks a step toward streamlining travel document issuance, providing Karachi’s citizens with greater accessibility and ease.
