Security forces have killed 27 militants in intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted in North and South Waziristan. The operations were carried out based on credible intelligence about the presence of militants in the area.
A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that a large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered during the operations. The ISPR said that the security forces are determined to eliminate terrorism from the country.
The operations come amid a surge in militant attacks in recent months. The Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), a banned militant group, has claimed responsibility for a number of attacks, including the killing of security personnel and civilians.
The government has vowed to crack down on militancy and has launched a number of operations against militant groups.
