The repatriation of Afghan nationals residing illegally in Pakistan continues, with thousands making their way back to their homeland in recent weeks. Official figures reveal that between July 21 and August 17, an additional 32,200 undocumented Afghan citizens have left Pakistan. This latest wave of repatriation has brought the total number of Afghans returning to 691,853 since August 17, 2024.
The ongoing repatriation process has involved the transportation of 732 families in 674 vehicles, highlighting the scale and logistical complexity of the effort. The large presence of undocumented Afghan nationals in major cities like Karachi had sparked significant concerns regarding smuggling, extortion, and other criminal activities.
In response to these concerns, the Pakistani government, in collaboration with military leadership, has been actively facilitating the removal of undocumented individuals. This concerted effort marks a notable step towards addressing both security issues and illegal immigration within the country.
Authorities believe that the repatriation initiative will help alleviate the pressures associated with undocumented migration and improve overall security in affected regions. The ongoing collaboration between Pakistani officials and Afghan authorities is seen as crucial in managing and supporting the repatriation process effectively.
