The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that 4G services are now available to 81% of the country’s population. This significant milestone highlights the rapid expansion of digital connectivity across Pakistan, bridging the urban-rural divide and empowering millions with access to high-speed internet.
The PTA credits this achievement to increased investment in telecommunications infrastructure, particularly in underserved and remote areas. The authority further revealed that the country’s overall broadband penetration has reached new heights, with over 130 million broadband subscribers as of December 2024.
In a statement, the PTA emphasized its commitment to enhancing digital inclusion, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that every citizen has affordable and reliable internet access, fostering growth in education, e-commerce, and technology sectors.”
However, challenges remain in bringing similar advancements to areas still lacking 4G services. The PTA is urging telecom companies to prioritize these regions and improve service quality nationwide.
Experts believe that increased connectivity will play a pivotal role in driving Pakistan’s digital economy, empowering businesses, and fostering socio-economic development.
