In a recent biography of the late Queen Elizabeth II, it has been revealed that the monarch found former U.S. President Donald Trump to be “very rude” during his visits to the UK. The book, titled A Voyage Around The Queen by Craig Brown, details an account of the Queen’s private thoughts on Trump, suggesting that she “particularly disliked” how he frequently looked over her shoulder as if searching for someone more interesting.
According to the biography, the Queen hosted Trump on two separate occasions during her reign. Despite her professional demeanor, she was reportedly displeased with Trump’s behavior, speculating on his relationship with his wife, Melania. The Queen is said to have wondered if Trump “must have some sort of arrangement” with Melania, questioning why she remained married to him.
These revelations come from a conversation that is reported to have taken place during a lunch “weeks after” one of Trump’s visits. The book notes that while the Queen often entertained controversial foreign leaders, including Bashar al-Assad, Robert Mugabe, and Vladimir Putin, she rarely expressed her disapproval openly. However, in the case of Trump, she apparently felt compelled to share her true feelings with a guest.
Trump first met the Queen in 2018 during a visit that was highly controversial in the UK. The visit, which was labeled a “working visit” rather than a state visit to minimize public outrage, sparked protests across London, including the famous giant balloon depicting Trump as a baby.
Despite Trump’s apparent belief that he was one of the Queen’s favorite guests, Brown’s biography paints a different picture, suggesting that the Queen may have found his company less than enjoyable.
