In a conversation shared on social media on Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy revealed ongoing negotiations with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, and Switzerland regarding the organization of a second peace summit. The announcement was made during an exchange with Indian journalists, highlighting Kyiv’s diplomatic efforts to secure a host for the event among the nations of the Global South.
Zelenskiy expressed his support for India as a potential host, stating that he had conveyed this sentiment to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the Ukrainian president emphasized that any country interested in hosting the summit must first align with the peace summit communique.
“But I want to be frank, and this applies not only to India but to any state that would be positive about hosting a second summit. We will not be able to hold a peace summit in a country that has not yet joined the peace summit communique,” Zelenskiy stated.
During his meeting with Modi on Friday, Zelenskiy discussed all points from the communique and the outcomes of the previous peace summit, underscoring the importance of unified global efforts to address the ongoing conflict.
