Pakistani mangoes, celebrated globally for their exceptional sweetness and flavor, have once again proven to be a lucrative export, generating $46.7 million this year. The Ministry of Commerce reports that Pakistani mangoes were shipped to 42 countries, underlining their international appeal.
In a recent National Assembly session, it was disclosed that the United Kingdom topped the list of importers, purchasing mangoes worth $13.2 million. The UAE followed closely, with mango imports valued at $9.2 million. Other significant buyers included Germany, with mango imports worth $1.9 million; Oman, at $1.7 million; Saudi Arabia, at $1.3 million; and Afghanistan, which imported mangoes valued at $2.2 million. Collectively, these nations contributed approximately $4.4 million to the total export revenue.
This year, Pakistan exported 13,681 metric tons of mangoes, reaffirming their status as a premium fruit in the global market. However, the All Pakistan Fruit and Vegetable Exporters Association (APFVEA) has raised concerns about the potential impact of climate change on future mango yields and export targets.
Despite these challenges, the success of this year’s mango exports highlights the resilience and global demand for Pakistani mangoes.
