Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not offer early access for its campaign mode, a departure from recent practice. Instead, the game will have a unified global release for all modes—Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies—on October 25, 2024.
An Activision representative told Charlie INTEL, “This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig into any and all modes at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment. As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.”
This change marks a significant shift from the pre-order incentives seen in past Call of Duty titles, where early access to the campaign allowed players to finish the story ahead of time, freeing them up to focus on Multiplayer and Zombies when those modes launched. For many, this also provided an opportunity to experience the single-player story without falling behind in the competitive elements of the game.
The community response has been mixed, with some fans expressing disappointment. Speculation has emerged regarding the reasoning behind the decision, with some suggesting that the change is a sign of broader shifts in the franchise’s approach.
In another notable announcement, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Day One via Xbox Game Pass, allowing subscribers to dive into the game immediately upon release.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to launch on October 25, 2024, across Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
