Pakistan has officially launched its first multi-mission satellite, PakSat-MM1, which is now operational and providing broadband services. This significant milestone enhances the country’s digital infrastructure, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The satellite aims to bridge connectivity gaps and improve access to vital services, including education and healthcare. Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima, emphasized the importance of PakSat-MM1 under the new National Space Policy, noting its potential to transform lives.
SUPARCO Chairman Yusuf Khan and PakSat CEO Khalid Rashid highlighted that PakSat-MM1 will offer 5G coverage and improved internet speeds, boosting Pakistan’s digital economy and potentially increasing GDP by 2.5%. This development marks a crucial step towards a more connected and technologically advanced future for Pakistan.
