In a landmark operation targeting power theft, authorities have announced the recovery of Rs 114 billion across the country. This extensive crackdown, which involved collaboration between law enforcement and utility companies, aimed to tackle the rampant electricity pilferage that has been undermining the energy sector.
The operation took place over several weeks and spanned multiple provinces, with officials inspecting thousands of electricity meters and illegal connections. Energy Minister Ayesha Khan praised the efforts, stating, “This recovery marks a significant achievement in our fight against power theft and helps restore public trust in the energy system.”
The recovered funds will be reinvested into the power infrastructure to enhance service delivery and mitigate energy shortages. Authorities have emphasized that ongoing surveillance and enforcement will continue, with strict penalties for individuals caught stealing electricity.
Officials encourage citizens to report any suspicious activities related to electricity use, highlighting the importance of community involvement in combating this issue. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards stabilizing the energy sector and ensuring fair access to electricity for all.
