Islamabad, October 9 – In a celebratory ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Asif Ali Zardari presented a Rs100 million cheque to Pakistan’s latest sports hero, Shahzaib Rindh, in recognition of his historic victory at the Karate Combat Championship (KC-49) in Singapore. The 26-year-old Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter from Balochistan made history as the first Pakistani to win the prestigious global competition.
Rindh defeated Brazil’s Bruno Roberto De Assis in the final, marking his achievement as a monumental moment for the country. “It’s a dream come true,” Rindh shared in a social media post, accompanied by a picture of him holding the championship belt.
President Zardari praised Rindh’s performance, commending him for raising Pakistan’s profile in the global martial arts arena. “There is immense talent among the youth of Pakistan, and it is crucial to provide them with opportunities,” Zardari said, emphasizing the importance of encouraging the youth in sports. He expressed hope that Rindh’s success would inspire future achievements for Pakistan.
The Balochistan Chief Minister, Sarfraz Bugti, who had warmly welcomed Rindh at Quetta Airport following his return, was also present at the event. Bugti lauded Rindh’s hard work and dedication, stating that Balochistan is proud of its champion.
The president’s party, PPP, shared the event on X, congratulating Rindh on his victory and celebrating his role in putting Pakistan on the global sports map.
