The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) political committee has confirmed plans to hold a large-scale protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad on October 15, aiming to express their opposition to what they term the “illegitimate rulers” and the continued political oppression in Pakistan.
In an emergency meeting convened without the participation of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, PTI Secretary of Information Sheikh Waqas Akram officially declared the demonstration, emphasizing that all organizational heads, from the central to regional levels, have been instructed to mobilize for the event.
The party had initially planned protests across Punjab, but in light of the upcoming D-Chowk demonstration, those plans have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date.
During the meeting, the PTI political committee strongly criticized the current government for allegedly “stealing the people’s mandate” and violating the Constitution. The committee accused the authorities of continuing to oppress citizens and ignore democratic principles.
Additionally, PTI’s leadership expressed deep concern over the treatment of their founder, Imran Khan, who is currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail. The committee claimed that Khan is being subjected to increased brutality, with his life, health, and safety deliberately at risk due to the revocation of his fundamental and human rights.
The committee called on supporters and party members to join the protest in a show of solidarity and to demand an end to the unjust treatment of their leader and the people of Pakistan.
