Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has arrived in Islamabad to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, marking a significant diplomatic event in the region. Jaishankar’s flight touched down at Noor Khan Airbase earlier today, though there are no official meetings planned with Pakistani officials during his visit.
Jaishankar’s presence at the SCO summit underscores the ongoing diplomatic engagement between India and Pakistan, despite the complex and often strained relations between the two nations. The summit is expected to bring together leaders and foreign ministers from various member states to discuss pressing regional security issues and cooperation.
In addition to Jaishankar’s arrival, the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan also landed in Islamabad for the same summit, where he was greeted by Pakistan’s Federal Minister Musadiq Malik. The SCO gathering, which will run for several days, is poised to serve as a platform for discussing key regional and global security challenges, including counterterrorism, economic cooperation, and enhancing multilateral ties.
While there are no bilateral talks scheduled between India and Pakistan, Jaishankar’s participation in the meeting highlights the continuing diplomatic avenues within regional frameworks, despite ongoing political tensions.
