Pakistan is gearing up to host the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, and according to media reports, there is a proposal to hold India’s three pool matches across two different venues to enhance broadcast quality and the overall value of the event.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) broadcasters, who also handle broadcasting for the Indian board, have suggested that splitting the matches across multiple venues would create a better impression and improve the viewing experience for global audiences.
Initially, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) proposed Lahore as the venue for India’s matches. However, based on the broadcasters’ recommendation, Rawalpindi has also been suggested as a second venue to minimize travel for the Indian team.
Reports indicate that the PCB has no objections to hosting India’s matches at two venues. The proposed schedule includes three matches for the Indian team, with fixtures in Lahore against Bangladesh on February 20 and New Zealand on February 23. The much-anticipated clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India is scheduled for March 1.
Group A is set to include Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh, ensuring a competitive pool of teams for the event.
