The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has reported a significant rise in the hacking of WhatsApp accounts in Pakistan, revealing that over 1,400 accounts have been compromised since July this year. The agency has urged users to enhance their online security measures to prevent falling victim to such cybercrimes.

According to the FIA, the hacking incidents have primarily targeted individuals with weak security settings, allowing cybercriminals to gain unauthorized access to personal information and sensitive data. The agency has attributed these hacks to sophisticated phishing schemes and the use of malware.

FIA Cyber Crime Wing officials have emphasized the importance of two-factor authentication and recommended that users regularly update their passwords and be cautious of unsolicited messages and links. They have also launched an awareness campaign to educate the public on recognizing potential threats and protecting their accounts.

The agency has stated that investigations are ongoing to identify the culprits behind these cybercrimes, and they are working in collaboration with international cybersecurity organizations to tackle the issue more effectively.

As the number of internet users continues to rise in Pakistan, the FIA warns that cyber threats are becoming increasingly prevalent, making it essential for individuals to prioritize their online security
