A woman from Karachi has been arrested for allegedly stealing gold jewelry from her neighbor and using the stolen money to perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia.
The woman, identified as 34-year-old Sadaf, reportedly stole a significant amount of gold from her neighbor’s home in Karachi’s Korangi area while they were away on vacation. Police officials revealed that Sadaf used the proceeds to fund her trip to Umrah, which she performed with the stolen funds.
The incident came to light when the victim returned home and discovered the gold was missing. Upon investigation, the woman’s suspicious activities and financial records led authorities to trace her involvement in the theft. Sadaf was arrested upon her return from Saudi Arabia, where she had completed her religious pilgrimage.
Police have recovered part of the stolen jewelry from the woman’s residence. Sadaf is currently in custody, and further investigations are underway. Authorities have expressed concern over the increasing number of thefts disguised as religious travel.
