During the ongoing IDEAS 2024 defence exhibition at Karachi’s Expo Centre, Pakistan and China have formalized key defence equipment agreements, signaling enhanced military cooperation between the two nations.
The agreements were finalized with the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between Pakistani and Chinese officials. Notably, a deal was signed by Mr. Ding from China and Brigadier Nadeem Ahsan from Pakistan, representing Pakistan’s Heavy Industries Taxila and China’s Norinco. The collaboration is expected to strengthen bilateral ties in the defence sector. Another significant agreement was inked with Chenab Engineering Works & Foundries, with Brigadier Ahsan and Ahmed Hassan of Chenab Company signing the MOU during the event.
IDEAS 2024, now in its third day, has seen active participation from several international companies, showcasing the latest innovations in defence technology. The exhibition is a platform for fostering collaboration between global defence manufacturers and the armed forces.
COAS General Asim Munir Visits IDEAS 2024
On the second day of the exhibition, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, visited the Expo Centre and commended the active participation of friendly nations. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir engaged with foreign military officials and defence delegates, applauding their efforts to display cutting-edge defence technology and promote international partnerships.
He also acknowledged the contributions of international manufacturers in showcasing their products, emphasizing the importance of such exhibitions in advancing defence cooperation globally.
Karachi Hosts Air Show at Sea View
As part of IDEAS 2024, Karachi’s Sea View beach is hosting a spectacular air show, offering live demonstrations by all three branches of Pakistan’s military. The Karachi Air Show highlights the professionalism and capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces.
Among the most notable displays will be the Pakistan Navy’s Sea King helicopters, demonstrating their combat readiness, alongside an impressive aerial fly-past featuring the Pakistan Air Force’s JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter jets.
The show will also feature elite commandos from the Special Services Group (SSG), who will perform high-altitude jumps to showcase their precision and skill. This dynamic event will provide a platform for local and international dignitaries, including ambassadors and military attachés, to witness the advanced military assets and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces.
IDEAS 2024 continues to serve as a significant event in the international defence community, further solidifying Pakistan’s role as a key player in the global security and defence sector.
