Ongoing protests organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) continue to wreak havoc on the city’s traffic, leaving citizens grappling with severe challenges. Among the chaotic scenes witnessed in the city, one incident stood out: a newlywed couple navigating through the disruption in an unconventional manner.
At Batti Chowk, a major traffic hub brought to a standstill by the protests, a groom had to abandon traditional wedding transportation and ferry his bride home on a motorcycle. A viral video showed the bride, dressed in full wedding attire, walking toward the motorcycle before embarking on the journey to her new home.
The protests, which have brought Lahore’s traffic to a grinding halt, also created grave difficulties for individuals with urgent needs. In Shahdara, a family carrying a critically ill child and an oxygen cylinder was forced to walk to the hospital after being stranded in the jammed streets.
This is not the first time PTI protests have led to such disruptions. Just a day earlier, two separate wedding processions were trapped in gridlocked traffic. After prolonged negotiations, they were eventually allowed to pass through.
As the protests continue, the city’s residents face increasing challenges, from missed appointments and delayed commutes to distressing scenarios like medical emergencies and interrupted wedding celebrations. The escalating impact underscores the growing need for a resolution that balances the right to protest with the rights of citizens to move freely and safely.
