Quetta: The Iranian Consul General in Quetta, Hassan Darwish Wand, expressed optimism on Saturday that trade between Pakistan and Iran could soon reach an annual volume of $10 billion.
Speaking at a meeting with the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), Mr. Wand acknowledged the progress made in bilateral trade and highlighted ongoing efforts to achieve the ambitious target.
“The trade volume between our nations has grown significantly in recent years, and I am confident it will surpass the $10 billion mark shortly,” he stated.
He commended the QCCI for its active role in fostering stronger trade ties and congratulated its newly elected leadership, encouraging them to continue their efforts in enhancing bilateral commerce.
The consul general reassured the business community of his commitment to resolving challenges hindering trade growth. “I will maintain my support and cooperation to address the obstacles affecting trade expansion,” he said.
Mr. Wand also announced that the 12th Joint Border Meeting between the two countries would be hosted in Quetta soon, expressing hope for more fruitful outcomes compared to previous sessions.
During the event, QCCI President Muhammad Ayub Mariani and senior office-bearers presented a commemorative shield to Mr. Wand, recognizing his contributions to strengthening Pakistan-Iran trade relations.
Senior Vice President Haji Akhtar Kakar and Vice President Engineer Mir Wais Khan Kakar shared the challenges affecting trade and thanked the consul general for his ongoing support in addressing these issues.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment from both sides to bolster economic collaboration and trade ties.
