Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt turned heads at the Las Vegas Grand Prix — but not for the usual reasons. Filming a high-stakes scene for his upcoming Formula 1 film, Pitt, portraying fictional driver “Sonny Hayes,” took a dramatic tumble on the track.
In a sequence staged before a live audience, the actor was seen limping away from a crash site before collapsing onto a padded mat. The scene added a layer of cinematic intensity to the event, blending Hollywood drama with real-world motorsport action.
Pitt’s dedication to authenticity has been a highlight of the production. Co-produced by F1 legend Lewis Hamilton, the film has seen the actor attending several races this season, with scenes shot during actual Grand Prix events.
British actor Damson Idris stars alongside Pitt as Joshua Pearce, Hayes’ teammate for the fictional Formula 1 team APX GP. Following the staged incident, APX GP added to the fun with a mock statement, saying:
“During qualifying, Sonny sustained a significant impact requiring immediate medical evaluation… While Sonny is otherwise stable, he will not participate in tomorrow’s race as he focuses on recovery. The entire team stands behind him, and we’ll provide updates when available.”
Idris’s character will reportedly take on the race solo, portraying a storyline of resilience as he “carries the team forward” while Pitt’s character recovers.
The film, blending Hollywood storytelling with Formula 1 authenticity, is one of the most anticipated sports dramas in recent years. With Hamilton’s expertise, real race-track filming, and Pitt’s commitment to his role, fans are eagerly awaiting what promises to be a cinematic spectacle.
