In a bid to promote sustainable transport and provide employment opportunities for the youth, the Sindh government has officially launched an E-Taxi program. This initiative aims to revolutionize urban transportation while addressing environmental concerns through the adoption of electric vehicles.
During the launch ceremony, Sindh Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated, “This program is a game-changer for our youth, providing them with an eco-friendly and cost-effective way to earn a livelihood.” He further emphasized the government’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and encouraging the use of green energy in transportation.
The program offers financial support, including interest-free loans and subsidies, to young individuals interested in joining the initiative. A fleet of state-of-the-art electric vehicles is set to be deployed in Karachi as the pilot city, with plans for expansion to other districts in the province.
Officials highlighted the dual benefits of the program—economic empowerment and environmental conservation. The initiative is expected to create thousands of job opportunities while reducing dependency on fossil fuels.
Citizens welcomed the move, hoping it would ease transportation challenges and pave the way for a greener Sindh. The program aligns with global efforts to combat climate change and marks a significant step towards modernizing Pakistan’s transportation infrastructure.
