A low-intensity explosion occurred on Thursday in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area while former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was holding a press conference. The incident happened at approximately 11:48 AM (IST) and resulted in one person sustaining minor injuries.
The Delhi Fire Service confirmed the blast and immediately dispatched fire tenders to the scene. According to authorities, the explosion was reminiscent of a similar incident in October 2024 near a CRPF school in the same locality, which had been attributed to a discarded cigarette. However, the cause of this latest explosion remains under investigation.
Delhi Police have not ruled out a potential link to previous incidents aimed at sending a message to government authorities. However, no definitive conclusions have been drawn at this stage.
The explosion coincided with Kejriwal’s comments during the press conference, where he labeled Delhi as “the most unsafe city in the world.” The remarks were notably underlined by the timing of the blast, adding weight to his concerns about the city’s security situation.
This incident follows recent explosions outside two clubs in Chandigarh, one of which was owned by rapper Badshah. Those blasts were allegedly carried out by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in response to failed extortion attempts.
Authorities are continuing their investigations and have urged the public to remain vigilant. Further updates are expected as details emerge.
