YouTube has released its highly anticipated end-of-year lists, highlighting the most popular content in Pakistan across three categories: Top Trending Videos, Top Music Videos, and Top Creators. This comprehensive overview reveals fascinating insights into the country’s video consumption habits and entertainment preferences.
Entertainment Tops the Charts
Pakistani audiences’ love for storytelling shone through in the Top Trending Videos category. Local dramas like Ishq Murshid, Jaan Nisar, and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum claimed the top three spots, showcasing the nation’s appetite for emotionally charged narratives. Action-packed films and unique regional stories, such as Tiger Nageswara Rao and Abdullahpur Ka Devdas, also captured viewers’ imaginations.
Music: A Blend of Global and Local Hits
The Top Music Videos list presented an eclectic mix of international hits and beloved local tracks. Leading the way were Nabbe Nabbe by Gippy Grewal and Jasmine Sandlas, Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2, and Balo Batiyan by Ali Zafar and Atta Ullah Esakhelvi.
Top Creators Reflect Diverse Interests
In the Top Creators category, family-oriented content dominated, with channels like Rajab’s Family and Anaya Eshaal Family securing leading positions. Creators like Dr Imtiaz Ahmad catered to growing demand for healthcare and educational content, while vloggers such as Shirazi Village Vlogs and Chota Ali Vlogs highlighted the everyday lives of Pakistanis.
Record Growth for Pakistani Creators
YouTube reported a 60% surge in the total hours of content uploaded by Pakistani creators in 2024, along with a 25% increase in creators earning over PKR 10 million annually. Interestingly, over 65% of watch time for Pakistani content came from international viewers, underscoring the global appeal of local creators.
Farhan Qureshi, Google’s Country Director for Pakistan, noted, “Pakistani creators are captivating the world… showing their ability to speak to a global audience.”
