Islamabad – Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has asserted that her brother will be released from police custody within the next 20 days. Speaking to the media, Aleema Khan highlighted the government’s recent actions, stating that authorities were “compelled” to respond to public protests and unrest.
She explained that the government took swift action when protest convoys gathered in the streets, prompting Barrister Gohar to visit the infamous Adiala Jail to meet with Imran Khan. During this meeting, the PML-N-led administration expressed its intention to accelerate the former prime minister’s release, in a bid to quell the growing public discontent.
Aleema Khan emphasized that the decision to address the situation was directly linked to the arrival of these protest convoys, which pressured the government to take action. She revealed that during the jail meeting, officials reiterated their commitment to facilitating Imran Khan’s release, stressing the need to ease the mounting public frustration.
Discussing the ongoing court cases, Aleema Khan expressed the PTI leadership’s desire to speed up legal proceedings. She criticized the court system for its slow pace, pointing to the lack of progress in the Jinnah House case, and called for a faster resolution to avoid unnecessary delays.
She also raised concerns about the prosecution’s lack of substantial evidence, arguing that prolonged trials were a waste of both time and resources for all involved parties. According to Aleema, PTI leadership was not seeking bail but wanted the trials to proceed swiftly.
Aleema Khan also referred to her brother’s claims of an international conspiracy that led to his ousting from the government in April 2022, a move that sparked significant controversy. Since his removal, Imran Khan has faced multiple legal challenges, including accusations of corruption and mismanagement, while PTI has remained embroiled in political controversy.
