Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, a senior judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, has urged immediate and effective measures to improve governance in climate finance. Addressing a seminar on environmental justice, Justice Shah emphasized the importance of transparent management of funds allocated for combating climate change and mitigating its impacts.
He highlighted the growing vulnerability of countries like Pakistan to climate-induced disasters and called for robust mechanisms to ensure that financial resources are utilized efficiently. “The governance of climate finance must be strengthened to protect the rights of future generations,” he remarked.
Justice Shah also stressed the role of judicial institutions in ensuring accountability and safeguarding environmental rights. He called for collaboration between policymakers, legal experts, and civil society to address gaps in climate finance governance.
The seminar, attended by government officials, environmentalists, and legal professionals, underscored the urgent need for action to address the climate crisis and its financial implications.
