Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp has announced it will cease to function on several older Android smartphones from January 1, 2025, according to a report published by a leading technology website.
The decision is part of WhatsApp’s strategy to phase out support for outdated operating systems, ensuring compatibility with the latest technological advancements and enhancing user experience. Smartphones that no longer receive software updates from manufacturers will be unable to access the app.
