Lahore – In a groundbreaking move to revolutionize urban transportation, Punjab is set to introduce a 24/7 e-taxi service across major cities, including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, and Rawalpindi. The initiative, led by the Punjab Transport Department, aims to provide an eco-friendly and affordable alternative to conventional ride-hailing services.
This e-taxi fleet, powered entirely by electricity, is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions and fuel dependency. Officials stated that the service will cater to citizens around the clock, ensuring safe and efficient transportation at all hours.
The e-taxis will feature state-of-the-art technology, including GPS tracking, mobile app integration, and cashless payment options. Initial pilot runs in Lahore have received positive feedback, with passengers praising the vehicles’ comfort and zero-emission performance.
Punjab Transport Minister, addressing the media, emphasized the government’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility. “This initiative reflects our dedication to creating a cleaner and greener Punjab. The e-taxi service will not only modernize our transport infrastructure but also contribute to environmental conservation,” he said.
The project aligns with the government’s broader vision of reducing pollution and promoting renewable energy solutions. A phased rollout is planned, starting with Lahore in early 2025, followed by expansion to other cities within the year.
