To ease access to passport services for residents of Karachi, the Sindh government has announced the establishment of passport offices within two NADRA Mega Centres, according to Express News.
These facilities will be operational at the NADRA Mega Centre at 5 Star Chowrangi and the NADRA Mega Centre at Siemens Chowrangi (SITE), aiming to reduce congestion at the city’s central passport office by providing alternative service locations.
The decision was made following a visit by Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Director General of Passports, to Karachi. During his visit, discussions were held on expanding passport services through NADRA Mega Centres.
In addition to the two centres in Karachi, similar services are expected to launch at 11 NADRA Mega Centres across Pakistan.
Previously, during an unannounced visit to the 24/7 Passport Office at Awami Markaz and the NADRA Defence Mega Centre, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi received positive feedback from citizens on the efficiency of passport and ID card services. He reassured the public that delays in passport issuance are being addressed, ensuring timely delivery.
Director General Mustafa Jamal Qazi also confirmed that the backlog of pending passports across Pakistan has been successfully cleared.
This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving public service delivery and ensuring that citizens have easier access to essential documentation.
