Amjad Rashid is an accomplished development professional with over three decades of experience. His journey began as a Geology lecturer at the University of Balochistan before he ventured into the realm of social development. Progressing through the ranks, he eventually assumed the role of CEO at the esteemed local development organization, ‘Taraqee Foundation’. Since 1994, Amjad Rashid has dedicated his skills and expertise to poverty alleviation efforts, leaving a significant impact in Balochistan, Sindh, KPK provinces, and AJK. His dedication was also reflected in his tenure as an interim provincial minister for Education in 2007/08.
Amjad Rashid has actively contributed to key initiatives such as the Balochistan Education Endowment Opportunities for Fund (BEEF) and the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), where he served as a member of their Boards of Directors. Presently, he provides his leadership to the Pakistan National Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), showcasing his commitment to sustainability and environmental concerns.

Educationally, Amjad Rashid’s academic journey is marked by achievements including a Ph.D. Scholar in International Relations and Political Science, an MSc in Social Policy, Planning & Participation in Developing Countries from the London School of Economics (LSE), a master’s in Geology from the University of Balochistan, an LLB from University Law College, and a BSc (Hons) from the University of Balochistan.

His impact within the development sector has led to the establishment of various programs that aim to provide improved access to social and economic assets and services. These programs encompass areas such as poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, social mobilization, livelihood enhancement, community physical infrastructure, health, education, women’s empowerment, agriculture, microfinance, and enterprise development.
Amjad Rashid’s extensive expertise includes networking, advocacy, capacity building, institutional development, research, project design, planning, execution, and monitoring. His prowess in resource mobilization has allowed him to foster collaborations with international donors, national stakeholders, and government departments, resulting in the mobilization of substantial funds for diverse projects.
In 1997-1999 during the drought in Balochistan on behalf of “Balochistan Relief Forum “ Mr. Amjad was invited to present / give award to various actors on their performance and services.

Amjad Rashid holds esteemed positions that reflect his commitment to social and human rights causes. As Chairperson of the Pakistan National Committee IUCN, CEO of Taraqee Foundation, Chairman of Balochistan Development Network (BDN), Chairman of Ending Violence Against Women/Girls (EVAW/G), and membership in various organizations, he continues to champion these causes.
His linguistic proficiency in English, Urdu, Pushto, Panjabi, Balochi and Hindko further enhances his ability to communicate effectively and establish collaborations across diverse contexts. Amjad Rashid’s dedicated efforts have earned him recognition as a significant development expert from Balochistan, both at the national and international levels.
