Renowned fashion designer Zara Shahjahan is bringing a piece of Lahore to Karachi as she prepares to open another branch of her eponymous clothing line in the bustling metropolis. While she hails from Lahore, Shahjahan has embraced Karachi’s energy, chaos, and unmatched vibrancy, expressing her admiration for the city in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“I have always loved cities that are restless, cities that never truly sleep, cities that carry the weight of too many stories and wear them like a second skin. Karachi is that city,” she wrote, sharing a series of pictures capturing its essence.
Unlike Lahore’s structured beauty, Shahjahan described Karachi as “wild and electric, unpredictable like the sea that watches over it.” She acknowledged the city’s untamed spirit, saying, “It is a city that does not wait for you to understand it — you either dive in or step aside.” And she has chosen to dive in.
Comparing Lahore to nostalgia and poetry, she described Karachi as motion and momentum, a place where “the sound of a thousand footsteps march forward without looking back.” With her latest store, Shahjahan hopes to weave her Lahore-rooted aesthetic into Karachi’s dynamic fashion scene, not to change the city but to become a part of its pulse.
“Karachi wears its defiance beautifully, and fashion here is not just about cloth — it is about movement, about identity, about the way the city holds itself together despite everything,” she noted.
Although she has yet to reveal the store’s exact location, Shahjahan’s words reflect her deep connection with the city. Already running two stores in Karachi and two in Lahore, she is set to expand further, embracing Karachi’s spirit with open arms.
“Welcome to our new store,” she signed off — a promise of new beginnings in the city by the sea.
