A dramatic confrontation unfolded at Adiala Jail’s Gate No. 5 on Saturday when Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Shoaib Shaheen and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry engaged in a heated verbal and physical altercation. The situation escalated to slaps and insults, creating a chaotic scene outside the high-security prison.
According to Express News, the dispute began with a sharp exchange of words, during which Fawad Chaudhry accused Shaheen of being an “agency tout.” In response, Shaheen retorted, “Mind your own business.” The verbal spat quickly turned violent when Chaudhry slapped Shaheen, causing him to fall to the ground.
Witnesses reported that prison staff intervened to diffuse the situation. Following the altercation, Fawad Chaudhry proceeded inside the jail, while Shaheen suffered an arm injury from the fall.
Condemning the incident, PTI lawyer Nadia Khattak, who was present at the scene, denounced Chaudhry’s actions. She emphasized that differences should not lead to physical violence and expressed relief that Shaheen did not sustain serious injuries.
Sher Afzal Marwat’s Fiery National Assembly Comeback
Meanwhile, in a separate development, former PTI leader Sher Afzal Marwat created a stir in the National Assembly on Friday with his unexpected “Mujhe kyun nikala?” (Why was I removed?) remark, echoing his frustration over his recent expulsion from PTI.
His words prompted laughter from government lawmakers and mixed reactions across the house. Marwat, known for using the opposition entrance, notably walked in through the treasury members’ gate, leading to desk-thumping from government members.
In a light-hearted moment, the Speaker of the National Assembly jokingly cautioned, “Don’t get him in trouble.” When asked to comment on the merger of mobile companies, Marwat instead diverted the discussion back to his expulsion, repeating, “Why was I removed?” His remarks led to slogans from government members, including:
🔹 “Why was Marwat removed?”
🔹 “Oppressors, answer us! Give Marwat justice!”
Spotting PTI parliamentary leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Marwat turned to the government benches, seeking their support in his ongoing political struggle.
As political tensions rise within PTI’s fractured ranks, both incidents highlight the deepening divisions and growing internal rifts within the embattled party.
