A section of Karachi’s University Road was closed for traffic on Monday after a water pipeline near Old Sabzi Mandi was damaged during construction work for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system.
According to traffic police, Water Board officials, along with repair machinery, have arrived at the site to fix the broken pipeline. The road closure is affecting traffic flow between Hassan Square and New Town, causing diversions for commuters.
Traffic from NIPA is being rerouted via the Expo turning, while vehicles coming from Essa Nagri are being directed toward the stadium via the Hassan Square bridge.
Authorities have urged the public to use alternative routes to avoid inconvenience. The incident comes amid ongoing BRT construction, raising concerns over repeated infrastructural disruptions due to the project.
