Islamabad: In a rare alignment, Pakistan and several Arab countries are expected to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr on the same day this year. Experts predict that the Shawwal moon will likely be sighted on the same evening in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Pakistan, leading to a unified celebration of Eid.
Traditionally, Pakistan often observes Eid a day after Gulf countries due to differences in moon sighting methodologies. However, this year, astronomical forecasts indicate a strong possibility of the crescent being visible across the Middle East and South Asia on the same date.
Religious scholars and meteorological experts in Pakistan will convene for the official moon sighting meeting to confirm the date. If the crescent is sighted on the same evening as in Arab countries, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated simultaneously in both regions, marking a rare occasion of unity in the Islamic calendar.
