The Punjab Home Department has announced a comprehensive security plan to ensure the peaceful observance of Youm-e-Ali (RA) across the province. In light of potential security threats, strict measures have been put in place to safeguard mourners participating in processions and gatherings.
Deployment of Security Personnel
Over 26,000 police personnel will be deployed across Punjab, including 8,000 officers in Lahore alone. More than 17,000 personnel will be assigned to secure 192 mourning processions, while another 9,000 officers will oversee 955 Majalis gatherings.
Advanced Security Measures
Authorities will utilize 1,971 metal detectors and 457 walk-through gates at entry points to ensure foolproof security. The Safe Cities Authority and district administrations will provide round-the-clock surveillance using CCTV cameras. Additionally, 27 high-risk processions and 62 sensitive Majalis will receive special monitoring from the Central Control and Monitoring Room at the Central Police Office.
Specialized Security Arrangements
- Snipers will be stationed on rooftops along procession routes.
- Plainclothes commandos will be deployed within crowds for security monitoring.
- Female police officers will be present to conduct security checks for female mourners.
- Dolphin Squad, PRU, Special Branch, and CTD will implement an integrated security strategy.
Traffic Management & Public Cooperation
Traffic authorities have devised alternative routes to manage congestion during processions. The Home Department has urged the public to cooperate with security personnel, follow safety protocols, and remain vigilant.
