Islamabad – March 24, 2025: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has restored the right of former Prime Minister Imran Khan to hold biweekly meetings while in custody. The decision comes after Khan’s legal team filed a petition challenging the previous restrictions on his meetings.

During the hearing, the court emphasized the fundamental right of detainees to meet their legal representatives, family members, and political aides. The ruling reinstates the arrangement that allows Khan to meet twice a week with his legal team and visitors, a privilege that had been curtailed earlier.

Khan’s lawyers argued that the restrictions were unjustified and hindered his ability to manage legal and political affairs. The government’s counsel, however, maintained that the limitations were imposed for security reasons.

This ruling is seen as a legal victory for Imran Khan and his party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), amid ongoing legal battles and political turmoil. PTI supporters have welcomed the decision, calling it a step toward ensuring fair treatment for their leader.

Background

Imran Khan has been in custody following multiple legal cases against him. His party has repeatedly accused the government of political victimization, while authorities claim the cases are based on legal grounds.

With the restoration of biweekly meetings, Khan’s legal team is expected to intensify efforts to challenge his convictions and strategize for upcoming political developments.
