In a remarkable milestone, OpenAI’s AI chatbot, ChatGPT, has officially become the most downloaded app worldwide, racking up an astounding 46 million downloads in just one month.
According to data analytics firm AppMetrics, ChatGPT surpassed popular platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and WhatsApp in March 2025, thanks to a surge in interest driven by its latest AI updates and integration with productivity tools.
Tech analysts attribute the boost to OpenAI’s recent rollout of GPT-5, which introduced enhanced reasoning, multimodal capabilities, and real-time assistance for tasks like writing, coding, learning, and even emotional support.
