In a landmark move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and boosting regional connectivity, Uzbekistan Airways has successfully operated its first-ever direct flight to Pakistan.
The inaugural flight departed from Tashkent International Airport and landed in Lahore, Pakistan, marking a significant milestone in the aviation and diplomatic relations between the two nations. The new route is expected to enhance tourism, business travel, and cultural exchange between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
The launch ceremony at Tashkent Airport was attended by senior officials from both countries, including representatives from the Uzbek Ministry of Transport, the Embassy of Pakistan in Tashkent, and executives from Uzbekistan Airways.
Speaking at the event, an Uzbekistan Airways spokesperson stated, “This direct connection will play a key role in facilitating people-to-people contact, expanding trade opportunities, and creating a bridge between Central and South Asia.”
The airline plans to operate twice-weekly flights on the Tashkent-Lahore route, with potential plans to expand services to Karachi and Islamabad based on passenger demand.
The introduction of the new flight route comes amid growing economic and strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, especially under regional connectivity initiatives like the Trans-Afghan Railway Project and the China-Central Asia-West Asia Economic Corridor.
Passengers can book tickets for the new route via the Uzbekistan Airways website or through authorized travel agents.
