Islamabad – In a major legal development, former Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has been granted bail in eight separate cases related to the May 9 riots.
The bail was approved by an Islamabad court after hearing arguments from Khan’s legal team, who maintained that the charges were politically motivated. Prosecutors, however, insisted on the former premier’s involvement in inciting violent protests that erupted nationwide following his arrest last year.
Legal experts say the bail decision provides temporary relief to Khan, but several other cases against him remain pending in various courts.
