Islamabad — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan will host the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit. Speaking at a press briefing, the premier said preparations are already underway to welcome member states for the high-level gathering.
The summit is expected to focus on strengthening regional cooperation in trade, security, connectivity, and counterterrorism. Analysts say Pakistan’s role as host underscores its growing engagement with regional partners, particularly China, Russia, and Central Asian countries.
PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the SCO charter, stating that the platform provides “a vital opportunity for regional peace, economic cooperation, and shared prosperity.”
