KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a rain and storm alert as Cyclone Shakti moves closer to the country’s southern coastline. The cyclone is currently located about 360 kilometers away from Karachi and is expected to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and rough sea conditions.
Authorities have advised fishermen to avoid venturing into the open sea, while coastal residents are urged to take precautionary measures. Emergency response teams have also been placed on high alert to deal with any possible situation.
The PMD said the cyclone’s exact path is being monitored closely, but warned that Karachi, Thatta, and adjoining areas may experience heavy downpours and gusty winds in the coming hours.
