Quetta, October 5, 2025 — A 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck parts of Balochistan, including Quetta and surrounding areas, on Saturday evening, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Tremors were felt in several districts, causing panic among residents who rushed out of homes and buildings. The PDMA said the earthquake’s epicenter was located near Quetta, at a shallow depth, though no immediate reports of casualties or major damage have been received.
Authorities have placed local rescue teams on alert and advised citizens to remain cautious as aftershocks may follow. The PDMA also urged people to avoid unnecessary travel near vulnerable structures and to report any damage to local control rooms.
Earthquakes are relatively frequent in Balochistan, which lies near several active fault lines.
