Lahore, October 6, 2025 — Pakistan’s left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Amir has officially confirmed his decision to retire from all forms of cricket, saying the time has come for the next generation to take charge.
In a statement shared on social media, Amir said, “Mera retirement ka faisla done hai, ab ye youngsters ka time hai.” (“My decision to retire is final; now it’s time for the youngsters.”)
The 33-year-old pacer, who made his international debut in 2009, thanked fans, teammates, and coaches for their support throughout his career. Amir played a key role in Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy victory, famously dismantling India’s top order in the final.
After facing ups and downs, including a comeback from suspension and later disputes with team management, Amir’s retirement marks the end of a career that was as controversial as it was brilliant.
Cricket analysts say Amir’s decision opens the door for a new generation of fast bowlers as Pakistan continues to rebuild its pace attack ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
