Sukkur, October 6, 2025 — The Jaffar Express derailed near Sultan Kot in Sindh on Monday after a reported blast on the railway track, according to railway and rescue officials. Multiple bogies were affected, and emergency teams have been dispatched to the site.
Initial reports suggest the explosion occurred as the train was en route from Quetta to Rawalpindi, causing several coaches to leave the track. Authorities have cordoned off the area, while rescue operations are underway to assist passengers and assess the damage.
Local police and railway officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the blast but said an investigation is being launched. Eyewitnesses reported a loud explosion followed by the train coming to an abrupt halt.
The Jaffar Express has previously been the target of similar incidents in the past, highlighting ongoing security concerns along the Quetta–Sukkur route.
Officials said injured passengers are being moved to nearby hospitals, and emergency helplines have been activated for families seeking information.
