Sydney, October 10, 2025 — In a major boost for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season, Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc has officially joined Babar Azam’s Sydney Sixers for BBL 15. The move brings together two of world cricket’s most celebrated names — one of the fastest bowlers and one of the most consistent batsmen — in what promises to be a thrilling campaign for the Sixers.
Starc, who last featured in the BBL several seasons ago, expressed his excitement at returning to domestic T20 cricket.
“It’s always special to wear the Sixers colours again. Having Babar Azam as captain makes it even more exciting — he’s a world-class player, and I’m looking forward to playing under his leadership,” Starc said in a statement.
The Sixers’ management confirmed that the signing aims to strengthen both their bowling attack and global appeal. Babar, who recently took over as captain, welcomed Starc’s inclusion:
“Mitchell brings incredible experience and match-winning ability. His presence will inspire the younger players and give us that extra edge we need this season,” said Babar.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the dynamic partnership between Babar’s elegant batting and Starc’s fiery pace as the Sixers prepare to challenge for another BBL title.
BBL 15 kicks off in December, with the Sydney Sixers set to face the Melbourne Stars in their opening match.
