Lahore — In a major enforcement drive, the Punjab Police issued traffic fines worth over Rs. 26 million in just 24 hours, marking one of the province’s largest single-day crackdowns on road violations. The campaign was launched across all major cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Multan, focusing on speeding, signal violations, and helmetless motorcyclists.
According to official reports, more than 85,000 traffic challans were issued in a single day, with Lahore leading the list. The operation comes as part of a broader initiative to curb reckless driving and promote adherence to traffic laws.
A spokesperson for the Punjab Police stated that modern surveillance systems and road monitoring cameras played a key role in identifying violators. The department reiterated its zero-tolerance policy, emphasizing that strict action would continue against habitual offenders.
Authorities also urged citizens to follow traffic rules, wear helmets, and avoid the use of mobile phones while driving to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.
