Lahore, October 13: The Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) has imposed a lifetime ban on Salman Butt, the coach of star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, over alleged misconduct and violation of federation policies.
According to official sources, the decision was made following an internal inquiry that found Butt guilty of breaching disciplinary rules and creating conflict within the national athletics setup. The AFP stated that such behavior was “unbecoming of a coach representing Pakistan at the international level.”
Salman Butt, who had been part of Arshad Nadeem’s coaching staff during recent international tournaments, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the ban. The federation confirmed that a new coaching panel will be formed to ensure Nadeem’s uninterrupted training ahead of upcoming international events.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions within the sports community, with some supporting the federation’s stance on discipline, while others have called for a transparent review of the case.
