Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Shohail Afridi has paid heartfelt tribute to martyred journalist Arshad Sharif, calling him “Pakistan’s greatest and bravest journalist who stood for truth and justice.”
In a statement issued on Friday, Afridi said Arshad Sharif’s fearless journalism and unwavering commitment to national integrity continue to inspire journalists and citizens across the country.
“I pay tribute to Pakistan’s greatest and bravest journalist, martyr Arshad Sharif. His voice for truth will never be forgotten,”
the chief minister said, adding that Sharif’s sacrifice symbolizes the struggle for freedom of expression and accountability.
Afridi emphasized that the KP government will continue to uphold press freedom and ensure that journalists can work without fear or intimidation.
Political leaders, media organizations, and civil society groups also remembered Arshad Sharif on his anniversary, describing him as a symbol of courage and integrity in Pakistani journalism.
Special prayers and memorial gatherings were held in various cities to honor his legacy.
