In a major step toward strengthening law enforcement infrastructure, the Punjab government has announced the establishment of 80 new police stations across the province.
According to officials, the decision comes as part of a broader restructuring and modernization plan for the Punjab Police to improve accessibility, reduce workload at existing stations, and ensure timely response to complaints.
“These new police stations will help bridge the gap between citizens and law enforcement, ensuring faster and more transparent service delivery,” said a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department.
The new stations will be set up in urban, rural, and high-crime areas, based on population density and security needs. Modern facilities, digital record systems, and dedicated women’s help desks are also expected to be included.
Analysts say the initiative reflects the government’s focus on law and order reforms, following rising concerns over crime rates and community policing standards in major cities.
